God’s Character

by Hazel Straub

The character of God includes righteousness, holiness, integrity, reliability, fulfilling his word, lovingkindness, mercy and grace. He does not treat us as we deserve but is merciful. When we know him, we have no problem trusting and relying on him. He is our refuge and strength.

God is not a man, so he does not lie.
He is not human, so he does not change his mind.
Has he ever spoken and failed to act?
Has he ever promised and not carried it through? (Numbers 23:19 NLT)

Happy Pentecost!

by Hazel Straub

Happy Pentecost, 50 days since Passover, when Jesus our Passover Lamb died for us and took our sins on himself. What we could not do he did for us. (50 represents Jubilee lost inheritances restored, debts cancelled and slaves set free.) Redemption is a free gift for all who receive Jesus. On the Feast, 120 people were waiting and praying to God.

On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place. Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability. (Acts 2:1-4 NLT)

The Holy Spirit changed the believers and filled them with boldness. They went outside and a crowd gathered. People there in Jerusalem for the Feast heard the sounds and gathered to hear the believers in Jesus, speaking in the hearers’ native languages. Peter, who had 50 days earlier, been fearful and denied knowing Jesus, boldly preached the good news of Jesus.  The baptism of the Holy Spirit transformed Peter and the others, making them bold for Christ. As a result 3,000 people gave their lives to the Lord Jesus. Holy Spirit lives inside of us and changes us from the inside!

God’s Love Pours Into Us

The Love Of God

by Hazel Straub

God our Father loves us and adopted us into his family, when we believe in his Son Jesus the Christ. His love pours into us, so we can pour it out to others.

Those who are loved by God, let his love continually pour from you to one another, because God is love. Everyone who loves is fathered by God and experiences an intimate knowledge of him. The one who doesn’t love has yet to know God, for God is love. The light of God’s love shined within us when he sent his matchless Son into the world so that we might live through him. This is love: He loved us long before we loved him. It was his love, not ours. He proved it by sending his Son to be the pleasing sacrificial offering to take away our sins. (1 John 4:7-10 TPT)

Prayer For Showing God’s Love

by Hazel Straub

Lord, holy is your name, Thank you for loving me. I say yes, Lord, for all you have for me today.

Open the eyes of my heart, so I can see others with your eyes. Open the ears of my heart, so I can hear your heart for them. Fill me with your love, Lord, so I can show your love, to everyone that crosses my path today. I say, yes, I am your ambassador, God.

So be it, in the name of Jesus!

Feed the hungry,
and help those in trouble.
Then your light will shine out from the darkness,
and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.
The Lord will guide you continually,
giving you water when you are dry
and restoring your strength.
You will be like a well-watered garden,
like an ever-flowing spring.
Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities.
Then you will be known as a rebuilder of walls
and a restorer of homes. (Isaiah 58:10-12 NLT)

Live By Faith In God

by Hazel Straub

We are called to live by faith (confidence and trust) in God. Do not look at the circumstances or allow fear to overtake you but keep your focus on the Lord. God promises that he will never leave or forsake you. He is your provision and carries you. His Word is true. Trust him and know that he brings you abundant life!

And before he (Jesus) had finished speaking, people arrived from Jairus’ house and pushed through the crowd to give Jairus the news: “There’s no need to trouble the master any longer—your daughter has died.” But Jesus refused to listen to what they were told and said to the Jewish official, “Don’t yield to fear. All you need to do is to keep on believing.” (Mark 5: 35-36 TPT) Jesus then raised a 12-year-old girl back to life.

Do Not Give Up!

by Hazel Straub

No matter what difficulties that you go through, they will turn out for good. During hard times, we realize that we need help and turn to God for strength and wisdom. Growth happens as we go through the tests, gaining a testimony of how God brought us through, what appeared insurmountable.

Don’t run from tests and hardships, brothers and sisters. As difficult as they are, you will ultimately find joy in them; if you embrace them, your faith will blossom under pressure and teach you true patience as you endure. And true patience brought on by endurance will equip you to complete the long journey and cross the finish line—mature, complete, and wanting nothing. If you don’t have all the wisdom needed for this journey, then all you have to do is ask God for it; and God will grant all that you need. He gives lavishly and never scolds you for asking. (James 1:2-5 VOICE)

Commit And Trust In The LORD

by Hazel Straub

Before you do anything, commit yourself to the Lord and trust completely in Him. Then your thinking conforms  to God’s thinking. As a result, what you do will succeed.

Before you do anything,
put your trust totally in God and not in yourself.
Then every plan you make will succeed. (Proverbs 16:3 TPT)

Joy And Laughter Are Medicine

by Hazel Straub

What you think about determines your health. Laughter and joy are medicine for your soul wounds. A good laugh heals  hurts and changes one’s perspective.. It is hard to stay down, when you are able to laugh and forgive. Wounds that are constantly examined brings sadness, hopelessness and sickness. Let the light and love of God warm you. Laugh!

A joyful, cheerful heart brings healing to both body and soul.
But the one whose heart is crushed
struggles with sickness and depression. (Proverbs 17:22 TPT)

Praise And Thankfulness Changes You!

by Hazel Straub

God inhabits the praises of his people. When we are thankful and praise God our attitude changes and we have abiding joy! Praise him before you see the manifestation of God’s answers.

Lift up a great shout of joy to the Lord!
Go ahead and do it—everyone, everywhere!
As you serve him, be glad and worship him.
Sing your way into his presence with joy!
And realize what this really means—
we have the privilege of worshiping the Lord our God.
For he is our Creator and we belong to him.
We are the people of his pleasure.[a]
You can pass through his open gates with the password of praise.
Come right into his presence with thanksgiving.
Come bring your thank offering to him
and affectionately bless his beautiful name!
For the Lord is always good and ready to receive you.
He’s so loving that it will amaze you—
so kind that it will astound you!
And he is famous for his faithfulness toward all.
Everyone knows our God can be trusted,
for he keeps his promises to every generation! (Psalm 100;1-5 TPT)
