God Pleasing Rewards

by Hazel Straub

Worried and concerned about how you look to others and if they approve of you?

It is easy to get caught, trying to please people. However, the approval that is important comes from Yahweh God, our Father in Heaven. Pleasing people exhausts one, due to its demands for performance, compromise and control. It snares you into a spider web of deceit, with defeat and insecurity. God pleasing however, gives you your true identity, as you put your focus, actions, confidence and trust in him. You safely rest in the Lord, at peace because he is trustworthy and does not change. When we please God, the rewards are great.

The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever leans on, trusts in, and puts his confidence in the Lord is safe and set on high. Many crave and seek the ruler’s favor, but the wise man [waits] for justice from the Lord. (Proverbs 29:25-26 AMPC)

  1. Amen! I have told others for a long time that “I am not worried about pleasing man. I just want to please God!”

  2. Everything I’ve read today has come straight from the Lord, who is saying, look at Me do not take your eyes off Me, do not look down or sideways, do not even look within, just fix your eyes on Me. Thanks Hazel for the icing on the cake. L

  8. The problem with trying to please people is that they all have different beliefs and expectations. If we manage to please one, we are bound to displease somebody else. Pleasing God is entirely different, since He is ONE, who brings peace and harmony into our life.

    • Yes, Peter, it is impossible to please people due to their changing and shifting expectations. May please for a moment only to have another demand. Thank God that we can please him and his goodness floods our lives. We have his peace and harmony. God changes everything in our lives!

  15. In my journey I have found out how well our actions speak to our faith in God. When we leave the world behind and stop worrying about pleasing man and worry about pleasing God then our actions will eventually win those with a hard heart over to God where they belong. When I returned to church a year ago, I reunited with a guy I went to high school with. He then told me that the reason he got saved was because in high school i introduced him to God. How amazing it is when you focus on God you don’t even realize who you will reach and who’s life you will change.

  16. Yes. Amen. Man’s opinions are no comparison to God’s. For me God’s words are most important than someone else’s opinion. What God thinks about me is far above than what man thinks. Thanks again for sharing this. God bless you. Keep writing and posting.

  20. You are so right! Our focus should always be on how Jehovah God views us in our efforts to please Him. 1 Corinthians 10:31 says, “Therefore, whether you are eating or drinking or doing anything else, do all things for God’s glory.” When we do that we receive many blessings and avoid many pitfalls.

  21. I live everyday just to please my Father! Sometimes naturally you do find yourself slipping up into old human habits – it’s important to recognise that and find freedom in Christ from that which holds you captive! ❤
