Fiery Trials

by Hazel Straub

Challenging times causing you to groan and wonder how long your fiery trials will last? Testings and hardship, shows us that we cannot depend on ourselves but need to rely solely, on God. Hard times drive us to cry out to God Our Solution. He hears and answers.

When we come through the fire, what is not of God that binds us, burns away. As we depend on God, the test makes us better not bitter. Challenges although difficult, turns us into precious gold that comes from going through the refining fire. Know God accompanies you in the fire.

Abba Daddy God, give me the ability to see with your eyes,  our trials as you do. Thank you!

But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. (Job 23:10 KJV)

  1. The sad part is that once the dangers, the hardships and the turmoils are over, many people fall back to their old ways of self-reliance and forget about God’s love and His compassion.

    • Yes, Peter, many do forget, once the crisis is over. But we are transitioning into a new season. God’s love and compassion will be needed for quite some time.

  2. Fiery trials on reflection are blessings, although we might not see it at the time. I remember my first brain tumour experience with fondness because I can see how God worked in and through it, this encourages me in my present brain tumour trial. Your devotional reminded me of Daniel 3 when the Lord was in the furnace with the saints of God.

    • Yes, Daniel 3, was in my thoughts when I wrote the post. God is always with us, whether we are Job and have lost children, possessions, his friends and his health.

During your trial of a brain tumor, may the presence of the Lord accompanying be the biggest reality for you. By the stripes of Jesus, you have been healed, 1 Peter 2:24. You will come out as pure gold.

Blessings of Shalom–wholeness and completeness, nothing missing or broken.

  4. A very important reminder, thank you!

During refining we never see the purchase of such, it is not until long after we realize the changes brought about for our benefit and God’s glory. The enemy wants us to think “He’s forgotten you in the flames,” sowing doubt, fear, and unrest. No, my brothers and sisters, our Lord is in complete control and as the Master Craftsman, He is sculpting us into a vessel useful for His purpose, that the Lord Jesus Christ may increase in us, and we decrease. Trust the Master Craftsmen my friends, He knows best!

    • Well stated! Love how hard times refine us and allow Jesus to shine out of us.

    • In order for the Master Craftsman to shape us into his vessel, he must apply pressure.

  5. I always remind myself that Jesus was WITH Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego when they were IN the fiery furnace! The king looked in and saw four men in the fire, when he had cast just the three of them into it. The Lord was with them and He will be with us. His character has not changed given the millennia that have intervened since that day. He is with His children when they go through difficult times. That is a promise that He has never failed to keep!

    • Yes, we have the promise that Jesus will never leave us, nor let anyone snatch us out of his hand. He is still with us today!

    • Praise God! Shadrach, Meshach, and Abedego, were all thrown in the fiery furnace. All that threw them into the fire died. They walked in the fire with a man who looked like God (Jesus). When they came out, they did not smell of fire and the only thing that came off was the things that had bound them. See Daniel 3 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Daniel+3&version=NLT

      Blessings!

  9. Even though it may not seem so at the time, the fiery trials, benefit us, whereas the flames of desire destoy our love for God

    • True, God shows himself strong for us when we go through fiery trials, which the post was speaking of. The fires of lust is different and as it takes first place over God is an idol and does destroy our love for God.
