How many times have you tried to deal with the symptoms manifesting in your life, without success? When we do not deal with the root issue, we have many symptoms. These include unresolved anger, hurt, offense, jealousy, envy, rejection, abandonment, and refusal to forgive. These and other things can cause a root of bitterness to become rotting garbage that makes the atmosphere around one very unpleasant for the one carrying it and others nearby.
It is a choice to live bitter or become better. One’s experiences can result in resilience and leaning on the strength of Christ Jesus. We can choose to forgive as Christ has forgiven us and let the offenses go, bringing favor into our lives. Or we can hold the hurts and become bitter. Which one will you choose today?
Tolerate the weaknesses of those in the family of faith, forgiving one another in the same way you have been graciously forgiven by Jesus Christ. If you find fault with someone, release this same gift of forgiveness to them. For love is supreme and must flow through each of these virtues. Love becomes the mark of true maturity. Let your heart be always guided by the peace of the Anointed One, who called you to peace as part of his one body. And always be thankful. (Colossians 3:13-15 TPT)

That latter part of Colossians 3:13 has brought me to my knees more than once. I will allow circumstances to dictate to me that ‘my’ resentment is justified, making me then withhold forgiveness. This truly hurts only me. Once I have suffered enough (again), God will bring me back to His truth that I am to forgive as the Lord has forgiven me, without reservation and with unconditional love. Thank you for sharing this reminder today.

Forgiveness releases the ‘chip on our shoulder’, releases the pent up emotions we carry inside, giving us a calming spirit and a peaceful heart. Know wonder our Lord told us to forgive as soon as we’re offended.
