Asking Forgiveness

by Hazel Straub

We all have sin in our lives. God’s light uncovers sin that we need to turn away from and run to him, asking for forgiveness. He is willing to forgive but we need honesty to confess our sins to him and humbly ask for help to overcome. The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. It is important to have a pliable, sensitive heart, that is quick to repent. Then we can walk in right standing with God with a clean heart.

If we boast that we have no sin, we’re only fooling ourselves and are strangers to the truth.  But if we freely admit our sins when his light uncovers them, he will be faithful to forgive us every time. God is just to forgive us our sins because of Christ, and he will continue to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we claim that we’re not guilty of sin when God uncovers it with his light, we make him a liar and his word is not in us. (1 John 8-10 TPT)

  2. Yep. For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God/Yah. And we definitely need a tender heart and mind before Yah/God, not hardened ones.

  5. Amen! Far too often I (and others) cheapen God’s grace by wanton sin, telling ourselves that we can receive forgiveness if and when I ask. When I do repent, with the Holy spirit’s help, I ask God to give me a clearer understanding that my sin causes me separation from Him. Separation that causes me to miss blessings and more importantly, breaks my Lord’s heart.

    Thanks for sharing this,

  6. “It is important to have a pliable, sensitive heart, that is quick to repent.” We need to be malleable clay that can be shaped by God, not a hardened lump that resists the pressure of the hands of God.

  7. Sometimes it’s easier to accept God’s forgiveness than it is to forgive myself

  8. So true! One of my favorite scriptures is Psalms 103:10 which says, “He has not dealt with us according to our sins,Nor has he repaid us what our errors deserve.” I’m so grateful for Jehovah God’s gift of forgiveness through Jesus Christ which allows us the opportunity to have a clean conscience and a clean standing before him.
