Do you live by your emotions? God calls us to live not by our feelings but by faith (trust, belief and secure) in God. Emotions change constantly but when we hear, listen and obey the Word of God (Bible) we get faith. The Word of God gives us the good news of the love of God through Jesus the Christ and our faith, trust, and belief in God makes us secure.
So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. (Romans 10:17 KJV)

Thanks Hazel for this post. Feelings are always go up and down. We are not in position to control them perfectly. Feelings are integral part of our personality. We have to be also true to our feelings. We have to keep a watch over our feelings. We shouldn’t take decision based on feelings but on facts. At the same time we have to respect feelings of others. You remember the smallest verse in the Bible. John 11:35 Jesus wept. Jesus used his emotions appropriately. This is to add to your point. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. God bless you.

Appreciate your comment Bible Blogger. If we live based on our emotions, we will be unstable because our emotions constantly change. The Word of God creates faith that gives us security in Jesus and stability.

Amen. I believe. Thanks. I have been through this. When I was a novice in faith, my feelings would have upper hand. As I grew up in the Lord and scripture I developed better control of feelings. Great post. thanks

Very true and relevant! Emotions are fickle – one thing one minute and one the next. But when we live by faith and follow Yah/God, we can rest assured that He will never change.

I have always been something of a drama queen and ironically in that manner had control over my feelings. As I grew older I had less desire to entertain, more restraint, grace. Thanks to God!

Yes, yes, yes, yes and Amen. Live by faith and not by sight. Phew. I read somewhere this week about mental health, just can’t remember where……that we are only sane when we start hearing the voice of God in our heads. When we don’t hear his voice, we are left alone with our crazy feelings! It is actually when we hear the voice of God and we start to talk to ourselves that we are the most sane! and like you say, secure! Thank you Hazel. I love your posts. Lots of love, L.

Lauren, we can also read the Bible speaking it out loud. “The Word of God is living and active and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing to the dision of soul and spirit , joints and marrowI and discerning our thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12. He is always speaking to us but he also speaks through his written love letter to us. You are welcome, Lauren. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Hazel

This is the secret to success in many lives. This year I will yield authority to a person who I do not trust because God told me to. It doesn’t make sense. I debated this with the Lord. Lord, I’m not sure that I understood you. I said. The Lord said that I shouldn’t look at what has been done because he knows what the person will do. I have no idea how God will do this thing. But I will trust the Lord even if it doesn’t make sense to me.

Life doesn’t answers to our emotions, it answers to our faith. The ability to control our emotions is what is called “spiritual maturity”. Many Christians are too body oriented, operating based on the dictates of their five senses. Until we stop listening to what the WORLD says & start listening to what the WORD says, faith and miracles are farfetched.

When we live by faith in God and by his Word, it is easier to rightly discern. We get to know his voice and how he works from spending time with God hones our discernment. You are welcome.

Our emotions come out of our soul (how we think, our will and then the resulting emotions). Our experiences and even our grandparents’ trauma gets passed down to us. Jesus heals our soul when we let him. Then the emotions take a back seat to faith in God. Blessings!

Amen! Truth is always truth, regardless of what our emotions may tell us. Emotions are so easily swayed by circumstances, sleep, hunger, etc. They may tell us necessary information at times, or serve as a warning light. But they cannot run our lives.
