Peace Be Still

by Hazel Straub

Ever notice how fear will immobilize you? The more you think about whatever causes you to be fearful, the less you think about the greatness, faithfulness and love of God. You feed the fear and all rational thought exits. The key to living victoriously, is taking worry, anxiety and fear captive, replacing it with thoughts of how much God loves and cares for you. Don’t feed fear, instead think on God is your help and strength.

For though we live as human beings, we do not wage war according to human standards, for the weapons of our warfare are not human weapons, but are made powerful by God for tearing down strongholds. We tear down arguments and every arrogant obstacle that is raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to make it obey Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:3-5 NET)

The disciples were in a boat crossing the Sea of Galilee, during a storm. They got upset because Jesus was sleeping. They woke him up because they thought they were going to die, in the storm. He spoke to the storm and said, “peace be still.” It became calm-no more storm. He asked them why they were so fearful and had no faith. (Mark 38-40) We can speak like Jesus, when we are filled with faith (full confidence and trust that God is there for whatever you need). We trust him, as we speak to the storm. The victory of Jesus over the enemy of our souls, includes the storms. God provides his weapons (angels) that follow our faith-filled speech. Peace be still, no fear!

Thanks for this article. I am blessed. Let’s keep helping each other up, by encouraging one another and sharing great testimonies of the faithfulness of our God. Hmmmm, it’s ours to cast down all feelings of fear, while we watch God daze us with wonder, as soon as he appears in the situation.

365 times in the Bible he tells us not to fear. I am sad to say I need each and everyone of those reminders.

Embolden me Jesus to carry out Your will.

Even the secular world knows how powerful fear can be and declares that ‘the greatest fear is fear itself’. Trust in God overcomes our fears and worries.

Yes, the Lord overcame the world and the enemy of our souls. His victory is our victory. The enemy is under our feet. We have to exercise our victory. Peace Be Still!

When we stop living for ourselves and live for Christ only then the things of this life can’t touch us. Will they happen? Sure they will, but like Jesus was asleep in the bottom of the boat and He didn’t fear, so can we not fear life’s storms.
    KEEP THE LIGHT ON!

Yes, our thought life is important. So much better to feed faith in God and not fear. Then we can rest and sleep during life’s storms. You are welcome.
