War For Your Promises

images

by Hazel Straub

This spring season is the time, when kings go to war. God is calling his people to war for the promises that he has given them. It is time, to get rid of the heavy winter clothing that served well in the last bitter frigid season but hinders your progress, in the warmer weather of spring. You cannot enjoy the warmth or run easily, when burdened with the past winter’s clothing.

This  season calls for spring cleaning, to change your outlook and put on the mind of Christ. Lay aside everything that hinders and stunts your growth. The  heaviness of negativity, bitter roots of expectation, fear, doubt, unbelief and passivity must go. Remove self-pity, depression and lethargy. Every secret sin that trips you, causing you to stumble, forget your purpose, stops progress, release and let go! Change your focus, turn off the television or computer and cry to God, to give you a heart consuming hunger and thirst, for pursuit of a closer more intimate relationship, with Jesus as Lord. Exercise faith in God, so you will grow in him with no hindrances.

‘Look through me, O God, and know my heart. Try me and know my thoughts. See if there is any sinful way in me and lead me in the way that lasts forever.’ (Psalm 139:23-24 NLV)

“Spring cleaning” my house isn’t possible just now – not even cleaning it – but spring cleaning my spiritual life is a daily task. We must depend on Him moment by moment. Thankfully, He is faithful and ALWAYS works in us to produce His goal.

Yes, allowing the Lord to purify your heart and letting all the things that hinder go is a daily task. We don’t want the pests to take over our lives! With their leaving, there is more room for Holy Spirit to fill us with his fruit.
