Sin Weeds And God Our Gardener

by Hazel Straub

Weeds grow in the flower bed. Today I pulled a number of small baby weeds that had popped up overnight. Although the roots were longer than the weed, they were thin and came out easily. They did not have to time to establish themselves. But if I had waited to deal with them, they would have spread with deep intertwining roots and been more difficult to pull.

Holy Spirit began to speak about the weeds or sins that sprout in our hearts. When a thought first enters the mind, it is easy to take it captive through Christ Jesus and pull it, like a baby weed. However, if we entertain thoughts of pride in how we conduct our lives, think about our desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes, our sinful actions become firmly rooted, deep and twisted around our hearts. These deep-rooted sins grow because of our cultivating thought life and sin. We have to cry out to God our Gardener, in total surrender, relying on his help to overcome these entrenched sinful behaviors, with the roots destroyed.

1 John 2:16 (ABPE)
For everything that is in the world: the desire of the body and the lust of the eyes and the pride of temporal life, these are not from The Father but these are from the world.

The biblical line comes to me, “…catch the little foxes…” Don’t let the little things go, don’t allow little faults and sins to go unchecked thinkiing, “It’s no big deal..” All that we do, from the smallest action is of vital importance to our Divine Audience…Thank you for your post…

Yes, it”s the little things that when ignored become life chokers. Praise God for the conviction of Holy Spirit and his dealing with our hearts. Change occurs when we recognize and deal with all those little foxes with total dependence on The Lord.

Yes, all of us have first hand experience with this. Praise God for his mercy that leads to total reliance on his help to root out those weeds.

As long as we are in this world we will be faced with temptations, but we have no excuse if we yield to the temptations, because we have the assurance that when we submit to God and resist the devil, he will flee. We have assurance of victory over temptation – not of our own doing, but when we yield to Him, He enables us to be more than conquerors. And praise God that when we do yield to the temptation, He is always there to convict us and bring us to repentance, forgiveness and cleansing.

We serve an incredibly amazing God.

When the children of Israel, were going in to take the Promised Land, God said he would give it to them little by little so they could occupy and defend it. Otherwise, their enemies or wild animals would overcome and overtake them.

Thank God for his mercy and grace.
