God Is Our Strength And Refuge

by Hazel Straub

It is easy to become affected by the circumstances of life. If things are hectic and time is short, we can get stressed and agitated. Sometimes we listen to fear and anxiety calling out to us and that voice becomes louder than the voice of the Holy Spirit. God calls us to rest in him and submit to him. He alone grants victory over the enemy in our lives. When we take refuge in God, his peace surrounds us. We do not have to  allow anxiety to overtake us and dwell in our emotions, will, or personality. God is in control and protects us during the storms that rage about us, when we take refuge in him. We can relax and rest knowing that God surrounds us and quiets us with his love and mercy. He calls us to rest and relax and allow him to do the work. It is his responsibility not ours. Pour out your heart to him and rest. God is our refuge and strength.

Psalm 62:5-8 (Amplified)
“My soul, wait only upon God and silently submit to Him; for my hope and expectation are from Him. He only is my Rock and my Salvation; He is my Defense and my Fortress, I shall not be moved. With God rests my salvation and my glory; He is my Rock of unyielding strength and impenetrable hardness, and my refuge is in God! Trust in, lean on, rely on, and have confidence in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is a refuge for us (a fortress and a high tower). Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!”
