The Meaning Of Remembering Lot’s Wife

by Apostle Gabriel Cross and Hazel Straub

“But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. Remember Lot’s wife. Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it, and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.” (Luke 17:29-33 KJV)

God decided to destroy Sodom, due to its wickedness and sent two angels to rescue Lot and his family. They were told to leave immediately and not to look back as Sodom faced immediate destruction. It was an urgent warning. Lot’s wife, however, valued the past more than God’s instructions. Her focus and attachment to her comfortable life in Sodom caused her disobedience to God. She went forward but her heart remained in Sodom and she looked back.  Her values were skewed, with the emphasis on fleshly desires and pride, not on the Spirit of God, who wanted to give her, life more abundantly. She turned into a pillar of salt.

In Ezekiel 16:48–50, God compares Jerusalem to Sodom, saying “Sodom never did what you and your daughters have done.” He explains that the sin of Sodom was: “She and her daughters were arrogant (smug), overfed (the spirit of too much) and unconcerned (apathy); they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me.

Meaning of Sodom – root meaning (Amos 4:11), to scorch; burnt (i.e. volcanic or bituminous) district; Sedom, a place near the Dead Sea:– Sodom.
Perhaps, from Strongs’ 5465; the idea of reducing the strength; difficult, i.e. dangerous, or (by implication) furious:–fierce, perilous. (This is the demon life or habitat of Sodom, Luke 17:29)
Also, from the base of Strongs’ 5490; to lower (as into a void):–let down, strike.

Smug – contentedly confident of one’s ability, superiority, or correctness; complacent.

  1.  Lot’s wife valued the past more than the present, allowing her flesh to rule her.
  2. Her focus was on Sodom, her home, and comfort in the flesh, not on God.
  3. She refused to value God and his instructions. This was a time of life or death. She chose death rather than life.
  4.  She clung to the past, to which she could not return. Her heart was in the past, causing her to reject a new life.
  5. She was disobedient to God’s instructions, reflecting her barren spiritual life. Due to her misperception of God, she was unwilling to obey and instead catered to her flesh.
  6. This is a warning, the past is finished, leave it behind. However, Lot’s wife, full of pride was determined to have it her way and ignored the warnings.  Control of her own life was her goal, refusing to surrender to God or repent.
  7. This is a clarion call, the last call. No more fatalism. Fatalism – one thinking it’s their fate and taking no responsibility or ownership. The acceptance of all things and events as inevitable; submission to fate: The spirit of apathy and smugness is in the family of fatalism.
  8. Although Lot’s wife started leaving Sodom, walking into freedom and new life, she stopped going forward and looked backward. She was double-minded, hesitant and turned into a pillar of salt.
  9. Her starting and stopping, connect to the spirit of Pharoah, his hard heart and the crocodile (which lived in the Nile River). The crocodile has more than a thousand teeth. In order to bite and sink its teeth into its prey to destroy them. This is a picture of pride and Leviathan spirits that Lot’s wife and Pharoah both embraced.
  10. Her desire was to be God and she refused to let God rule. This pride leads to premature death and dying before one’s appointed time.

• Stop helping the devil destroy you.
• Stop being the devil’s advocate against yourself.
• Change your mind. Focus on the Lord and his Word over your life.

Doing what God says supersedes the rest. You will always be rewarded and you will be blessed. We are commanded in the word of God, to forget those things, which are behind us.

“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14 KJV)

Forget, means to lose out of mind, to neglect, to be ignorant or unaware of (have amnesia over the detrimental).

Behind, means enclitic of direction, to the back, backwards.

“I don’t depend on my own strength to accomplish this; however I do have one compelling focus: I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead. I run straight for the divine invitation of reaching the heavenly goal and gaining the victory-prize through the anointing of Jesus. So let all who are fully mature have this same passion, and if anyone is not yet gripped by these desires, God will reveal it to them. And let us all advance together to reach this victory-prize, following one path with one passion.” (Philippians 3:13-16 TPT)

Father God Or Man Approval?

Apostolic Motivation

by Apostle Gabriel Cross

I receive a really good dose of true fatherhood today. The motivation for a true Apostle—Apostolic Father, not the title, but the real function of this office.

In the past, I wondered what people thought of me. I lived by their opinions, judgments, and approval, until I read 1 Corinthians chapter 4. One should not be discouraged at the dislike and rejection of others. If one finds their approval and acceptance, in the Father.

“Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover, it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man’s judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord. Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God. And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another. For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it? Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you. For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men. We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised. Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace; And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it: Being defamed, we entreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day. I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you. For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me. For this cause have I sent unto you Timothy, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church. Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you. But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power. For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭4:1-21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“So then you must perceive us— not as leaders of factions, but as servants of the Anointed One, those who have been entrusted with God’s mysteries. The most important quality of one entrusted with such secrets is that they are faithful and trustworthy. But personally, I’m not the least bit concerned if I’m judged by you or any verdict I receive from any human court. In fact, I don’t even assume to be my own judge, even though my conscience is clear. But that doesn’t mean I stand acquitted before the Lord, for the only judge I care about is him! So resist the temptation to pronounce premature judgment on anything before the appointed time when all will be fully revealed. Instead, wait until the Lord makes his appearance, for he will bring all that is hidden in darkness to light and unveil every secret motive of everyone’s heart. Then, when the whole truth is known, each will receive praise from God. Dear brothers and sisters, I’ve been referring allusively to myself and Apollos in order to illustrate what I’ve been saying. It is futile to move beyond what is written in the Scriptures and be inflated with self-importance by following and promoting one leader in competition with another. For what makes a distinction between you and someone else? And what do you have that grace has not given you? And if you received it as a gift, why do you boast as though there is something special about you? Oh, I know, you already have all you need! Since when did you become so content and rich without us? You’ve already crowned yourselves as royalty, reigning on your thrones, leaving us lowly apostles far behind! How I wish indeed that you really were reigning as kings already, for that would mean we would be reigning as kings alongside of you. It seems to me that God has appointed us apostles to be at the end of the line. We are like those on display at the end of the procession, as doomed gladiators soon to be killed. We have become a theatrical spectacle to all creation, both to people and to angels. We are fools for Christ, but you are wise in Christ! We are the frail; you are the powerful. You are celebrated; we are humiliated. If you could see us now, you’d find that we are hungry and thirsty, poorly clothed, brutally treated, and with no roof over our heads. We work hard, toiling with our own hands. When people abuse and insult us, we respond with a blessing, and when severely persecuted, we endure it with patience. When we are slandered incessantly, we always answer gently, ready to reconcile. Even now, in the world’s opinion, we are nothing but filth and the lowest scum. I’m not writing this to embarrass you or to shame you, but to correct you as the children I love. For although you could have countless babysitters in Christ telling you what you’re doing wrong, you don’t have many fathers who correct you in love. But I’m a true father to you, for I became your father when I gave you the gospel and brought you into union with Jesus, the Anointed One. So I encourage you, my children, to follow the example that I live before you. That’s why I’ve sent my dear son Timothy, whom I love. He is faithful to the Lord Yahweh and will remind you of how I conduct myself as one who lives in union with Jesus, the Anointed One, and of the teachings that I bring to every church everywhere. There are some among you who have exalted themselves as if I were not coming back to you. But I will come soon, if it pleases the Lord, and I will find out not only what these arrogant ones are saying, but also if they have power to back up their words! For the kingdom realm of God comes with power, not simply impressive words. So which would you prefer? Shall I come carrying the rod of authority to discipline or with an embrace in love with a gentle spirit?” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭4:1-21‬ ‭TPT‬‬)

This is the life motivation for the ministry gift of the Apostle.

Intercede For All Men Today!

by Apostle Gabriel Cross

Says, “Crying out For All Men today. God gave me a burden for men yesterday, today it has intensified. Intercede with me for (us) men today.”

Where is the father, the precursor of greater generational blessings to come,
Who exterminates curses of illegitimacy and the absentee fathering syndrome?
Where is the father, the prototype of the heart of God in man,
Who protects, provides, and sincerely, does whatever he can?

Where is the father, who waits expectantly for the return of the prodigal son?
Ultimately, when the son’s in dire need, the father’s love overcomes.
Where is the father who like Jesus, really wants his son to exceed him,
Who is not intimidated by what his son is carrying, even if it is greater than him?

Where is the father who is not raising his son as a clone, homogeneous to himself,
But imparting greater confidence and greater grace to help his son identify “himself?”
Where is the father like Paul, who sends his son, to represent him and minister in his place?
In lieu of having him idly observe and listen to his ministry feats, ignoring the development of his son’s grace and traits.

Where is the father like God who says, “You are my beloved “Son,” in whom I am well pleased,”
Who will walk with his son wrong or right when it’s not convenient despite his weaknesses or his needs?
Where is the father who will not procreate a son, abandoning him paternally to society and his mother,
But will cultivate, inculcate, and urge his son to go even further?

Where is the father, who thinks transgenerational, leaving an inheritance for his son,
not ceremonially with a word or two, no finances, and they’re done?
Where is the father who brings reformation and affirmation to fatherless generations?
Thus raising up young men to become great fathers saving many nations.

Where are fathers, who are breaking generational fatherlessness,
Cultivating true sonship covenant in godly relational fruitfulness?
A true father cannot only hear the Father, but he can hear his son as well.
A true son will endure correction yielding the peaceable fruits of righteousness to avail.

We need the Holy Spirit of the Father, to teach us how to father with his heart.
Together and in part…

Let Others Off The Hook!

by Apostle Gabriel Cross

If you want to stay off the Hook, let others off the Hook!

In the Hebrew, the word for hook/flesh-hook is “hah,” a “ring” inserted in the nostrils of animals. A cord ties to the ring, for the purpose of restraining them. ( 2 Kings 19:28 ; Isaiah 37:28 Isaiah 37:29 ; Ezekiel 29:4 ; 38:4 ).

Our purpose is to liberate and release others by the Spirit of the Lord.

When we love like Abba, we will not study the faults of others and hold them hostage to their past. Instead, we will find gold in others. Encourage and release them from our judgment, cheering them onto Destiny, like Christ did for us. Abba, raise my love level.

And when you pray, make sure you forgive the faults of others so that your Father in heaven will also forgive you. But if you withhold forgiveness from others, your Father withholds forgiveness from you.” (‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:14-15‬)

“My beloved friends, if you see a believer who is overtaken with a fault, may the one who overflows with the Spirit seek to restore him. Win him over with gentle words, which will open his heart to you and will keep you from exalting yourself over him. Love empowers us to fulfill the law of the Anointed One as we carry each other’s troubles. If you think you are too important to stoop down to help another, you are living in deception.” (Galatians‬ ‭6:1-3‬)

Abba, raise my love level…Selah

Gold Dust From Heaven

by Apostle Gabriel Cross

I sense the excitement of God in the atmosphere, as I write this. God is doing mind-blowing things in this season. Miracles, signs, and wonders accompany us who believe. (Mark 16:17-18; Acts 2:22; Hebrews 2:4)

Every time we enter Abba’s Presence, we should expect God to blow our minds.

I was in worship last evening with two of my sons over FaceTime. Spontaneously, prophetically, we worshiped in God’s Presence for over 5 hours.

While in God’s Presence, I looked at my arm. It was sparkling as if a gold gem was embedded in my arm. Although I tried to capture it on my phone, the picture does not do it justice. However, I was in such awe of God’s Glory. Below is the picture.

I inquired of the Lord and he said, “The gold represents the Glory. Gold dust from heaven is a sign that I am glorifying you, causing you to shine. I am permeating you with My Glory. I am doing the insurmountable and unfathomable, in your life.” The Lord led me to these two scriptures:

“...they shall come up with acceptance on mine altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory.” (Isaiah 60:7)

“And if we are [His] children, then we are [His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His inheritance with Him]; only we must share His suffering if we are to share His glory. [But what of that?] For I consider that the sufferings of this present time (this present life) are not worth being compared with the glory that is about to be revealed to us and in us and for us and conferred on us!”(Romans 8:17-18)

“GOLD is the Grace to Yield to God’s Glorious Presence. When we are graced to get our oil filled afresh, our lampstand lights up a whole new room with faith. Giving new dimensions in God, from Glory to Glory. He purifies everything we yield to Him, with His Fire. Then He hammers it into beautiful things in the Temple of our hearts.”

“GOLD is the color that everything turns into when remaining in God’s Presence. GOLD represents the riches and booty we get from our enemies, who God conquers on our behalf. Gold is the Glory of Heaven. “…and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.” (Revelation 21:21)

“GOLD is the color of our inheritance, His Presence. The closer one gets to the Throne, the more GOLD is seen. The highway into the Holy of Holies is clear as glass GOLD”. (Collection of Prophetic Meanings of Colors by Carol Nemitz)

We are the house of God’s Glory. We are the temple of God’s Glory. I studied the word glorify, it means to gleam, embellish, to boast, beautify, to explain (i.e. make clear), and to go over the boughs.

Wow! This is the Father’s heart towards us. He gleams us, makes us lights of the world. Thus causing us to appear suddenly and clearly like flashes of light. He embellishes us with His Glory. He beautifies us with salvation and deliverance.

He speaks for us. No need to explain anything concerning our confessed sins, because the blood of Jesus Christ speaks for us. He goes over the boughs, (the branch of a tree), for us. Abba goes over the top, head over heels, and dances over us with joyful singing. (Zephaniah 3:17). He generously gives gifts of grace and glory to us, because he loves us so much.

This is why we should come to the Father, without pretense or preconceived ideas. Worshiping like an innocent child, purely from the heart.

When we give Abba what he desires, Abba will release his desires on us. Bringing heaven down on earth and manifesting himself in ways, never experienced before.

Expect Abba to move quicker than what you can time and do greater than what you can imagine. Because of Grace, the supernatural is natural for us. Expect God with a Greater Expectancy!
