This is the season of Lights. It is during the night that the lights are most noticeable.
Jesus celebrated Hanukkah or the Feast of Dedication. It started De ember 14, 2025, at sundown, and will last for eight days. A Greek general had taken over the Temple in Jerusalem about 150 years before Jesus. Worship of Zeus with the slaughter of a pig on God’s altar, had desecrated the Temple. When the Temple was back in the hands of the priests and Levites, dedication to Yahweh, the one true God, took eight days for purification. The candlestick or menorah was lit during this time.,although they only had dedicated oil for one day, it lasted eight days until new oil could be made.
Jesus proclaimed that he was the light of the world and that his followers would never walk in darkness. (John 8:12) In Matthew 5:14-1His light shines out of us (his temples) and triumphs. The dark flees, where there is light. Jesus taught that believers in him were the light of the world, in Matthew 5:14-16. Take time to dedicate yourself again, to God through Christ Jesus. Let him cleanse your temple from any pollution, with his blood. Do not curse the darkness but shine brightly! Celebrate the Light!
‘“Your lives light up the world. For how can you hide a city that stands on a hilltop? And who would light a lamp and then hide it in an obscure place? Instead, it’s placed where everyone in the house can benefit from its light. So don’t hide your light! Let it shine brightly before others, so that your commendable works will shine as light upon them, and then they will give their praise to your Father in heaven.”’

Then came the Festival of Dedication (Hanukkah) at Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was walking in the temple, in the Colonnade of Solomon. (John 10:23-24 ESV)
