Prayer does not always have expression in words. Many times we do not know what to pray but feel burdened and let out a sigh or groan. Other times we feel another’s pain and our tears flow in compassion. All of this is intercession and Holy Spirit who lives inside of us, prays for us knowing exactly what we need. He loves us and works out everything for our good.
Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good. (Romans 8:26-28 MSG)

This is so helpful. When we can’t find the words to pray, the Holy Spirits interprets our deepest thoughts for us that only God can understand. He takes care of our every need.

Yes, the Holy Spirit gives the groaning in us to God. In the Old Testament God heard the groaning of the Hebrew children and sent Moses to deliver them out of slavery. Glad you found this helpful.

Hazel, this is a remarkable post and very Biblical. I liked this especially: “If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter, He does our praying in and for us.” Betsy

Amen. Apostle Paul’s Christ-inspired thoughts from Romans will us forward in prayer.

I really like this! I’ve been on a very slow-burn, long path of prayer, and there are so many times I want to just stop. But somehow, the Lord shifts the gears, lets me see things from a new vantage point, and fires me up! The conversation w/ Him is worth it!

Yes!! Prayer is a two way conversation. He wants to speak with you. He hears and catches you on fire!
