The Secret Weapon–Love

by Hazel Straub

When people treat you poorly, do not respond the same way. Instead release the love of God to them. It will disarm them and change the atmosphere. You may see them become your cheerleader. Nothing is a better weapon against the enemy of our souls, than the love of God!

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! (Galatians 5:22-23 NLT)

I wished this was true all the time because when my husband treated me badly I always forgive him and continue to live him treated him with respect I continue to ask God why did this happen to me what sin have I committed that I can’t be forgiven it has been and still is a difficult road I travel on.

Love is not always an easy road. Love sent Jesus to lay down his life for us, to pay the death penalty that each one of us owed. We each are to forgive as Christ forgives. For many years, I worked with angry and hostile people. They wanted to kill me and each other. The demons of hate were prominent and I would get intimidated. I cried out to the Lord for his help. What I learned was to come in the opposite spirit. I would silently bind the demons, in Jesus name, and silently release the love of God to them, through the Holy Spirit. The atmosphere would change and I could deal with the person, not the evil spirits. The enemy of our souls does not understand love and it disarms. We live in Christ and need to know our identity is in him. The perfect love of God casts out all fear. We have to put on the armor of God and keep it on. When we ask for help, God is always there for us, to give us his strategy. We are more than conquerers through Christ Jesus our Lord.

In the Lord’s Prayer, in order to be forgiven our sins, we must forgiven. Forgive means to send away or dismiss. When we forgive, we allow the God to deal with the other person. When we act as the judge, we get offended and bitter and drink the poison intended for the other person. Much better to give your husband to God, so he can deal with him than to be bitter. Forgiveness does not mean there are no consequences for the offender. You send away the offense so God can deal with the offender. Otherwise, you are tied with the offense and it harms you.

That is hard when me and both of my daughters constantly live in fear no one not even the police could protect us When my husband showed up on my property and I had the proof with a picture of him in a different car the police dismissed this so until the day comes when he truly leaves us alone we won’t have to live in fear

Psalm 91 is a great psalm of protection. When you dwell in the presence of God Almighty you will not fear. God’s angels have protected me from harm many times. It is a god one to think about and speak out loud. God inhabits the praises of his people. In Acys 16 Paul and Silas were wrongly imprisoned, had been stripped naked without a trial, thrown in stocks and chains in the inner prison, as innocent Roman citizens. Paul had cast out a dark spirit of python or divination from a slave girl who gave fortunes for money. Our fight is not with flesh and blood but with powers of darkness. At midnight Paul and Silas sang hymns and praised God. He came with his earthquake shoes and caused an earthquake the sprang open the prison doors and all chains fell off all the prisoners. The jailer was going to commit suicide but along with his household was saved. Later the authorities wanted Paul and Silas to leave quietly but they had to let them go publicly. This dark principality called python had intended to kill them but praise of God defeated evil. There are many times in the Bible that similar things happened. God’s presence defeats the enemy.
