Prodigal Heavenly Father!

by Hazel Straub

Most of you have heard of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32) but have you heard of the prodigal father? The dictionary definition of prodigal is wastefully or recklessly extravagant; giving or yielding profusely; very generous; lavishly abundant; profuse.

Our Heavenly Father is love and gives it to us in a wasteful, reckless extravagant, profuse, extremely generous, abundant way. He gives his love to us, not based on our goodness or merit but because he is lavishly, wastefully, spending his love on us. He does not treat us as we deserve but is extremely generous to each one of us. When we have wasted our lives, our Father waits with open arms to welcome us back home. He gives us new clothes of honor, puts a ring on our fingers, shoes for our feet and prepares a feast for us, with the fattened calf. Enjoy the reckless, extravagant, lavish, wasteful love of our prodigal Father for each one of us! Rejoice!

“So the young son set off for home. From a long distance away, his father saw him coming,  dressed as a beggar, and great compassion swelled up in his heart for his son who was returning home. The father raced out to meet him, swept him up in his arms, hugged him dearly, and kissed him over and over with tender love. (Luke 15:20 TPT)

Love this message!!! It is truly about the extravagant love of the Father!!! Here he is a wayward son meeting dad after reckless living. Dad gets down and dirty in the mud just like his son. Running to him robe all nasty, undignified, steps out of character, meets him where he’s at. I’m preaching to you now! Hope you enjoy this. Much love in Christ! As my friend says Here, There, In The Air, see you sometime!

Amen, sister! God has so much compassion and love he lavishes on us, even when we stink from living with the pigs. We all have at times been the older or younger brother. Praise Father for his wonderful redeeming love. Joy and a party in the Father’s embrace! 🥳🎉🥰💃🏻❤️♥️

Yes, it is! So often we concentrate on the son, but it is the reckless love of Father, which is the beauty of the story. Amazing love!!
