God Is With You In The Difficulties

by Hazel Straub

Your difficult circumstances are not permanent but temporary. God turns every situation in which we find ourselves, for our good. He loves us, has a destiny planned for each one, and is with us.

Joseph was betrayed by his brothers and sold into slavery. He was in Egypt first ruling over a household, until falsely accused of rape and thrown into a dungeon. Then he spent years in in prison, where he learned the Egyptian culture and how Pharoah and his household worked, and ruled although a prisoner. These long years were difficult but got him positioned for his life destiny. Joseph chose forgiveness, submitted himself to God, and enjoyed God’s favor. He ended up ruling Egypt and stored up grain for a season of famine. Not only Egypt but the entire region and their nations were preserved, along with Joseph’s brothers and their families.

But Joseph replied, “Do not be afraid. Am I in the place of God? As for you, what you intended against me for evil, God intended for good, in order to accomplish a day like this – to preserve the lives of many people. Therefore do not be afraid. I will provide for you and your little ones.” So Joseph reassured his brothers and spoke kindly to them … (Genesis 50:19-21 BSB)

  6. As a chronic pain patient I went through a season of why me? Of course the question is why not? There is nothing so special about me that somehow I have to be spared pain and trials. It pains me a lot to sit in this chair, but then so many including Jesus suffered so much more I think with God’s help I can endure. Since 2009 I have almost died for one reason or another and people in my life use to like to tell me how strong I am to have fought off so much, but I shut that all down every time single time it came up. I am not strong I am blessed by God and I will not leave this earth one second before my Lord says I will.
I use to look at my pain as a curse, but now I look at it as a blessing. I have become more humble and closer to God in these years I have had this pain. Also He has allowed the grace of doctors, and medications that do not get me high in order to control my pain so that it is tolerable because honestly not even the strongest opioids can take it away. I don’t know why He gave this to me, but that He has a plan I have no doubt and so it is fine with me. I know it is not forever and that I am heading to so much better and I believe Joseph looked to that promise too.

    • It is wonderful how God turns what the enemy of our souls, means for evil into good. You are here for a purpose fulfill. The enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy but the Lord comes to give abundant life. Yes, Joseph trusted in God and the promises God gave him in dreams. God’s blessings to you!
