Life Or Death In The Mouth

by Hazel Straub

God created us  in his image, with speech. God spoke and created the world. Likewise, we have the power to create life and death with our tongues. Our words are powerful and we either agree with God, as we speak, or with the enemy. Our speech reveals what dwells inside our hearts.

If we focus on the negative, we will curse ourselves and others. God, however, is calling us to focus on him. When we think on that which is good and praiseworthy, we will have speech that blesses many. If instead, fear and distrust consumes us, cursing will flow, demonstrated by our negative words and actions. We become connected to that on which, we meditate and think. Fear and anxiety robs us of God’s peace and loving care. Resting, yielding and relying on God, however, brings abundant provision and blessings, into our lives. These blessings will help and strengthen not only ourselves but also others.

Choose life or death with your speech today!

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life]. (Proverbs 18:21 AMPC)

    • Brian, this is one of the benefits of being created in the image of God. Our mouth is so powerful. Holy Spirit often gives the same message to many, confirming the word of the Lord.
