God created us in his image, which means we are not robots but choose upon whom we rely. Whom we choose depends on our heart. Do we trust in silver, gold, our human logic, fleshly wisdom or power? Or is our heart totally committed to God with no reservations? Human or natural help seems logical but is unreliable. It is better to have God strengthening and assisting than man. God hears and answers, when we cry and rely on him.
At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him: “Because you relied on the king of Aram and not on the LORD your God, the army of the king of Aram has escaped from your hand. Were not the Cushites and Libyans a mighty army with great numbers of chariots and horsemen? Yet when you relied on the LORD, he delivered them into your hand. For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war.” (2 Chronicles 16:7-9 NIV)

Many of us say we are fully committed to God, are we really? Would we pull up stakes, quit our job, and move to a third world country if called? Sometimes I think we may “guard” our hearts and not listen as long and hard as we should.

Dennis, you speak the truth. God calls us to radical obedience that is not convenient but extremely costly. Jesus laid down his life to redeem us. We are called to die to our fleshly nature and to take up our cross to follow him.

Total reliance on God is where our strength comes from! Psalm 118:8 “It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man”. God Bless your wonderful ministry.

Yes, God calls us to totally rely on him and not our own understanding. Everything works so much better when we rely on God and not man. Thank you, Julia, for the blessing. Overflowing blessings to you and your ministry!!

In God we trust is the motto of the USA. Your post today reminded me of this uplifting motto being ignored by so many people these days.

True, in God we trust is ignored by many. Those who trust and rely on God, shine with his light and make a difference in their sphere of influence. The church in the book of Acts started with 120 people and changed the whole known world.
