Ready For Sudden Change?

by Hazel Straub

Are you ready for change? Frustrated and waiting for more of God, in your life? The disciples of Jesus had watched him ascend into heaven, after he told them to wait in Jerusalem, until they received power from on High. Jesus had given his life, was buried and resurrected on the third day. He had appeared to many after his resurrection, including his disciples.

Waiting is difficult, especially when you do not know the time something will happen. There were about 120 disciples meeting in unity, praying and seeking God. The eleven disciples of Jesus, who were close to him, had all deserted him at the crucifixion except for John. This experience had humbled them and they knew they needed something more, in order to accomplish their destinies as world changers. Although they did not know the exact timing, their focus was on God and seeking him.

Suddenly, everything changed by fire, with an empowerment of Holy Spirit. Transformation brought them into the streets, where the people had gathered at the sound of a roaring sound, like a mighty wind. (This was a feast to the Lord, that required all Jewish men to come to Jerusalem to celebrate and there were Jews from many nations. It was the time of the wheat harvest, the giving of the 10 commandments, and the anniversary of the marriage of Israel to Yahweh.) It was 50 days after the Feast of Passover, when Jesus had been killed by the religious leaders. Not the time that man would choose for a new hope and the birth of the Body of Believers in Jesus.

Suddenly, Holy Spirit transformed the believers in Jesus and they were never the same again. They went from fearful to bold and spoke the good news of redemption from sin with the blood of Jesus, by repentance and turning back to God. The new believers also received Holy Spirit and were transformed.

Happy Pentecost! Anticipate your suddenly, where everything changes, for good!

On the day Pentecost was being fulfilled, all the disciples were gathered in one place. Suddenly they heard the sound of a violent blast of wind rushing into the house from out of the heavenly realm. The roar of the wind was so overpowering it was all anyone could bear! Then all at once a pillar of fire appeared before their eyes. It separated into tongues of fire that engulfed each one of them. They were all filled and equipped with the Holy Spirit and were inspired to speak in tongues—empowered by the Spirit to speak in languages they had never learned! (Acts 2:1-4 TPT)

  3. Praise God from Whom all blessing flow! Beautiful reminder of that wondrous day, when in one accord, Fire came and transformed ordinary men and women. I think of Peter’s being changed from feaful to acknowledge Jesus, to preaching one of the greatest sermons ever and touching 3000 hearts for Jesus. It reminds us that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us through the Holy Spirit. Lovely post.

  7. Change is coming. I had a dream this morning that my father came to the door of my bedroom, I was sitting at my desk writing – he asked – are you ready to go? I responded with go where? As I had no plans for that day and didn’t need to pick up my son from school til a bit later. I woke abruptly because I heard my father’s voice in the dream as though he was right in my room… he’s wanting us to be prepared for whatever he is calling us into to! Ready to go. Ready to act. Ready to speak and give a reason for the hope we have. ❤️🙌❤️ we need to get ready and be alert.
