Praising God Or Worrying?

by Hazel Straub

What or whom do you fear? When everything is going well, we do not stress. It is when the challenges and tests of life occur, when we choose to live in faith or fear. Intellectually, we know that God is faithful and trustworthy but the test comes when work is hectic, the family demanding, and our mood filled with self-pity of “why me?” Do we concentrate on the negative and anxious thoughts or rehearse the goodness of God and how he has always been our help and strength?

It is a choice to run to God and praise and worship him with thankfulness, despite the challenges. Or we can complain and stay in the mess. Fear and anxiety rob us of peace and sleep.  Praising God in the middle of the battle, brings God’s presence, his wisdom, and his voice. Choose how you react to life’s challenges!

Even when I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
protect and comfort me. (Psalm 23:4 NLT)

  6. It is an unfortunate characteristic of our human nature to easily forget the Provider of all good things when we feel well and on top of the world and only return to our merciful God when we are in deep trouble.

  10. He OWNS the valley! Not only is He with us as we travel through but He owns the real estate.

    • Yes, the Lord owns the valley and the real estate. He also brings light and casts out the darkness.
