God’s Blessings Come From Obedience

by Hazel Straub

We are in a time of transition. The winds of change blow away the things on which we depended that are not God. These things kept us from fully depending on God and putting him first. God calls to us to leave the idols of pride, self-sufficiency, stubbornness and dependence on self, other people, and material possessions, and not God. He asks us to believe that he goes with us to take out the giants and circumstances, in our land of Promise. Trust with confidence and believe God, letting go of fear and unbelief. Enter into your promise with faith. God has made promises to you that he will fulfill, as you obey him. Confess that you haven’t depended on God. Move in obedience to God, for overflowing blessings and the impossible, in the natural, to manifest in your life. God’s blessings bring a surprising increase, good, beneficial and pleasant in your life. What was dead comes to overflowing abundant life, through Christ Jesus.

Do not look in natural strength but to the Lord your God. Nothing is too difficult for him. Look to him for your help and strength. He is your Shepherd and you will not lack any good thing. Give him trusting faith.

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:57 KJV)

Obedience is greater than sacrifices. We read Isaiah 8 in Sunday School yesterday, and I had never stopped to think about the fact that if we are not taking care of the least of our brothers and sisters, our fasts are in vain. This post reminded me of he same sentiment, or the need to obey, rather than simply perform rituals.

Yes, obedience to God brings rich rewards. It involves our relationship to our loving father who delights to give us good gifts. When we disobey, we miss the blessings and open the door to a curse. Your analogy to Isaiah 58 and fasting by helping others is so important. God is looking for relationship with his children, we are tender and pliable in their hearts. They know they are loved and love those that may be harder to love because he first loved us. Rituals performed without showing obedience and love are empty and of no value.

Thanks for knowing it was Isaiah 58. My 5 key on my IPad is gone. I need a new keyboard.
