Rest In Jesus!

by Hazel Straub

Jesus calls us to stop worrying, dwelling on anxious thoughts, stress, and burdens, and coming into his presence. He wants us to get to know him and to rest (ease, relieve, and refresh) our souls (our thought life, will and emotions). So often, we give our concerns to him, only to snatch them back, becoming exhausted and unable to rest. Jesus walks with us and carries our burdens, when we let them go. The day goes much easer as you let him refresh you. Rest in Jesus!

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.] Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls. For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good—not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne. (Matthew 11:28-30 AMPC)

  4. Thank you for your post. As a Christian I do worry…my biggest concern that I hope you blog about is all the negative media about the world coming to and end…the media has tons of youtube video’s that show the earth failing, and we are all doomed.

    • You are welcome, Jackie! The news media has an agenda. Negativity and scare tactics make people want to follow the news. The main stream media wants to control the people with what they report. Instead, I want to think on God’s news in which he says, he is in control. Everything will work out. God loves and cares for us.

  6. Amen! It really is a trust issue for me/us, isn’t it. I rest assured of my eternal place because of what Jesus has done for me on the cross, yet I will worry about some small issue in my day?

Isaiah tells us the solution for our worries: You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you (Isaiah 26:3)

    Blessings,
    Chuck

  10. You post reminded me a lot of the song “Oceans” by Hillsong. You’re right, the only appropriate rest we can have is through Jesus. I posted something similar to this a few months ago about needing TRUE REST, and how it can only be found through Him. It is good to see the message being cast forward! Blessings to you, Child of the Most High!

  11. Amen!
When we let Jesus do the driving, we will be able to “find rest” for our souls.
The key is not to take the wheel back like you said.
    Thanks
