Faith In God

by Hazel Straub

Faith (believing, trusting loyalty), in God, through Christ, makes one secure, as you rely on God. He is our Good Shepherd, who leads and guides us. He is our refuge and strength. We seek his direction, listen, obey and follow him, even if we don’t know where we are going. Faith requires humbling ourselves and trusting God because we are weak.

The opposite of faith is pride. We follow our desires, without asking for and following his guidance. Pride puts self at the center and relys on performance, not God. When things do not go our way, we throw a pity party, wallowing in negativity, while feeling sorry for ourselves. Pride usurps the place of God, in our life.

Daddy God, I trust and have faith in you. Not my will but your will, in my life. I humble myself, come to you through your son, Jesus and turn away from pride to you. Today, I choose to listen to you and follow you. Amen

Look at the proud!
They trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked.
But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God. (Habakkuk 2:4 NLT)
