Focus On Jesus

by Hazel Straub

Where is your focus? If you focus on what went wrong, it is easy to get offended. Then you begin to think, “I’m treated poorly!” The emphasis becomes yourself and opens the door to pride and a downhill spiral.

Instead, fix your eyes on Jesus. Remember how he loves you and laid down his life for you, so you could live the abundant life. Jesus took all our sins, curses, diseases and punishment. By his stripes, we receive our healing. He forgives us, so we can forgive others. His victory over the enemy of our souls, is our victory. Keeping your gaze on Jesus, helps us live victoriously and full of thanksgiving.

Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls! (Hebrews 12;2-3 Message)

  1. This is such a GREAT message, Sister Hazel. I’m going to come back and read it a couple more times today.

    • Yes, Sister Sandra , our focus must be Jesus. When he is our focal point, all day long, our circumstances don’t have the same power to depress or make us happy. Because we filter everything through his presence ! We bring him with us, gaze at him and listen to his voice. He gives us life and changes our perspective!

  2. what a wonderful message! i am always moved by your posts, and am thankful for the insight you bring…thanks for always being a light in the midst of much turmoil…i love being reminded of the “greater things”, and you do it so well…blessings

    • Thank you for your encouraging words, Selah Vita! They are appreciated. I write about what the Lord is highlighting for me. He is telling me to keep my focus on him. He helps me get through the turmoil and have peace in the journey. Abundant blessings of shalom, everything whole and complete flowing to you from the Prince of Shalom. 😋

  3. Great encouragement. When we keep our eyes on Jesus He defeats the sin that so easily besets us that the enemy uses to lead us into wickedness. Praise God He gives us the victory through His Son Jesus Christ as we turn to Him in humble prayer, confess our sins, and live His way and not our way. May the Lord richly bless us as we love and follow our loving Savior. Amen!

    • Praise God for Jesus!

      • Amen! He has done all for us, for the glory of God our Father and for our eternal salvation and joy!

      • Hallelujah!
