When Yahweh is your Shepherd, his leading of you is good. It is not the job of the sheep to find the best pasture, but only to follow the Shepherd. There is no need to worry or fret because he leads you into abundant provision and you will not lack or want anything, as you listen and obey his instructions. Let him carry your cares and enjoy the goodness of the Good Shepherd.
Yahweh is my Shepherd, so I am never in need. He makes me lie down and rest in green lush pastures. He leads me besides peaceful waters, where I can easily drink my fill. He renews and refreshes my soul. He leads me in cycles of righteousness, for the sake of his name. (Psalms 23:1-3)

I like the idea that it isn’t the job of the sheep to find good pasture!

Yes, too often we try to do the Shepherd’s job. We were made to follow and not worry because he cares for us.

This was encouraging. I love that He leads us to green pastureS…meaning more than one. It’s for this reason that I follow several podcasts in addition to the sermons from our amazing pastor. A balanced diet, eaten from various ‘pastures’ keeps me spiritually healthy, I believe. 🙂

Tami, happy you received encouragement from this post. There had been concerns about provision and the Lord had spoken clearly to me stating that his job as the Shepherd leads the sheep to green pastures and it’s the job of the sheep (me) to follow. He finds the pastures. It is a trust issue that all the needs (nutrition, rest, growth, etc.) will be met. The most important thing for the sheep is to know the voice of the Shepherd and follow wherever he leads.Often he knows hidden oasis’ that the sheep do not know. He never disappoints and you will definitely be lead to different pastures, as he directs.

He always leads. May I always be willing to follow and obedient to His every lead.
