Unrealistic Expectations

by Apostle Gabriel Cross

Stop looking to people for what you can ONLY receive from Me, says The Lord.

Oftentimes, there are misunderstandings, strife, divisions, and discouragement because of UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS. Which is when one fails to communicate clearly, assumes sincerely, or expects something from someone based on a private conversation, one has in one’s own mind, with oneself. Then one becomes emotionally toxic within a relationship solely based on UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS.

Do yourself a favor, FREE YOURSELF FROM THE EXPECTATIONS OF PEOPLE AND YOU WILL NEVER BE DISAPPOINTED ANOTHER DAY IN YOUR LIFE…Selah

  1. This is a really good article, Brother Gabriel. And your point about our having expectations of others based on our own assumptions and conversations we have only in our own minds is so true — but that problem is vary rarely addressed.

It seems to be a particular problem during the holidays because so many people get this inward picture of what they expect the holidays to be and how they expect to feel as a result of certain activities. They build up expectations in their own minds that certain people will do and say the things that will meet emotional needs, but those people just aren’t on the same wavelength, so they don’t “play their part” the way we imagined.

So often it doesn’t turn out the way we dreamed or expected, and then we feel crushed and depressed. And often we blame others. If we will enter the holidays concentrating on being a blessing to those around us and not expecting other people to satisfy us emotionally, we will be able to enjoy the festivities much more.

    • Thank for taking the time to respond. Our focus for living must be the Lord and pleasing him. When our relationship with him motivates us, life and the holidays change.
