God Turned Others’ Evil Plans To Good

by Hazel Straub

Everything that occurs in your life has a purpose, when God is on the throne of your life. Even that of which you are most ashamed and gives you pain, he redeems. What appeared negative becomes an incredible message, in the Master’s hand.

Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery. He ended up in a household which he ruled but when falsely accused of rape, spent years in prison. The prisoners had worked for Pharaoh, so Joseph learned royal politics and the culture.  While imprisoned he forgave his brothers. One day after interpreting Pharaoh’s dream, he became ruler of Egypt. There he saved not only Egyptians’ lives from starvation but preserved his own family of origin,  Israel. Much good came from his hardship and pain.

“Joseph replied, “Don’t be afraid. Do I act for God? Don’t you see, you planned evil against me but God used those same plans for my good, as you see all around you right now—life for many people. ” (Genesis 50:19-20 MSG)

He’s done this for me, too. Much of who I am can be directly attributed to those who desired to destroy me. Thank You, Jesus!

I think most of His blood-bought, adopted children who have loved and served our amazing God for a number of years, would testify of times when He has intervened and undertaken, and turned man’s intended harm to our good. When we submit to Him and resist the devil, the devil has no option but to flee.
