Deliverance Prayer From Presumption

by Hazel Straub

It is easier to see the faults of others than our own sins. We have a tendency to judge the twig in our brother’s eye and miss the plank protruding from our own eye. This behavior causes us to sin, with haughty arrogance and conceit (pride).

Daddy God, deliver me from taking liberties with your grace and mercy. Wash and make me clean from faults and sins, I do not recognize. Keep me from becoming over familiar with you and presuming on your mercy, while filled with pride and conceit. May these sins not control me. Soften and make my heart pliable, to your instruction. May my thought life and speech be acceptable in your presence, for you are my stability, anchor and rescuer.

Psalm 19:13-15 (Complete Jewish Bible)
“Who can discern unintentional sins? Cleanse me from hidden faults. Also keep your servant from presumptuous sins, so that they won’t control me. Then I will be blameless and free of great offense. May the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart be unobjectionable in your presence, Adonai, my Rock and Redeemer.”
