Rest In Most High God’s Presence

by Hazel Straub

Rest in the shelter of the Most High and habitually live by faith, in his presence. Spend time listening and anchored in him. You are called to live in close intimacy with God, hearing his heart for you. He gives you all that you need and protects you from the enemy. Know he loves you and protects you.

You who sit down in the High God’s presence,
spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow,
Say this: “God, you’re my refuge.
I trust in you and I’m safe!”
That’s right—he rescues you from hidden traps,
shields you from deadly hazards.
His huge outstretched arms protect you—
under them you’re perfectly safe;
his arms fend off all harm.
Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night,
not flying arrows in the day,
Not disease that prowls through the darkness,
not disaster that erupts at high noon.
Even though others succumb all around,
drop like flies right and left,
no harm will even graze you.
You’ll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance,
watch the wicked turn into corpses.
Yes, because God’s your refuge,
the High God your very own home,
Evil can’t get close to you,
harm can’t get through the door.
(Psalm 91:1-10 MSG)

What a beautiful and powerful declaration of truth. This isn’t just a nice sentiment; it’s an invitation to a reality, a blueprint for a life lived from a place of unshakable security and intimate love.

Thank you for this profound reminder. It speaks directly to the soul’s deepest need for safety and connection. This passage paints such a vivid picture—it’s not about a distant, transactional God, but about a loving Presence who invites us to sit down, to spend the night, to make our home with Him. It’s the ultimate invitation to stop striving and simply abide.

The image of being “perfectly safe” under His “huge outstretched arms” is so tender and strong all at once. It acknowledges that the hidden traps, the flying arrows, and the prowling disease are real—we see them every day—but it declares an even greater reality: we are shielded. We are rescued. We are loved.

This is the peace that truly does “pass all understanding.” It’s the courage to fear nothing, not because we are strong, but because we are safe in the strongest arms of all. What a gift to carry through today and every day.

Yes the arms of the Almighty and Most High hold us tightly and protect us. He loves to speak with us and hold us close.

For those who abide in Christ, neither the Devil nor any worldly tribulation can overcome us.
