Defeat To Victory!

by Hazel Straub

It is not what happens to you but how you react to it that matters. If you get angry or throw a pity party about the injustice of your circumstances, you will indulge in toxic emotions and let negativity control you. What your enemies meant for your evil, God uses for your good.  His fingers of love sift everything that comes your way. He uses adversity and suffering to refine and make you more like Jesus. Stripped of the things that impeded your process, the light, love and light, of Jesus, shine through you.

What the enemy thought was the biggest defeat for God, with the shame, the kiss of betrayal from a friend, punishment and crucifixion of Jesus, instead set untold numbers of people free from the bondage of sin, curses, sickness and death to eternal life. What first seemed the biggest loss, for God ,was instead his biggest victory. You will see the same thing in your life, when the enemy tries his best to defeat you. Instead the negative brings positive results that far surpass the suffering. You go through the fire and come out as pure gold.  Your test becomes a testimony that frees others.

Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So donโ€™t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way. (James 1:2-4 MSG)

  1. I remember a quote from very compassionate Indian lady who gives loving hugs to everyone. She said : Hating people is like drinking poison ourselves but expecting others to die. Have a lovely day. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

  4. Joy can be elusive but it is worth the pursuit

    • Yes, joy on our own can be elusive but Holy Spirit has said to pursue him. He gives us his joy.
      Galatians 5:22-23 AMPC
“But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness, Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence). Against such things there is no law [that can bring a charge].”

Overflowing joy be yours, as you allow Holy Spirit to work in your life, Barb. ๐ŸŽˆ๐Ÿ‡โค๏ธโค๏ธ

    • Yes, Peter, grace of God, a gift in our life produces wonderful fruit, in the middle of tests and trials. It causes me to stop and be grateful to God! Blessings to you!

  6. What wise words to share! How we react to adversity is so important. Negativity sucks the joy and life out of those closest to you and likely stifles faith.

    • Negativity is the opposite of faith in God because it takes God out of everything. Adversity happens to everyone at some point in their lives. How we react determines the course of our life. Thank you for stopping and commenting, Nancy. โค๏ธ

  8. When my son was diagnosed with Autism I was sad at first but knew God had a plan for our family so I never became angry or bitter at our circumstance at that time. My son eventually would learn how to speak and now he is so smart he is studying plants and biology at university level. What my husband and I learned in the end helped us with what we are living through now. We already experienced the public schools harming our babies, we pulled them out when they were very young to home school, we already experienced cruel doctors and medical personal when we asked too many questions and went against their patterns. We already experienced the fear of Big government when it came to our children’s needs…like Big Brother watching anyone who speaks up too much, and now the whole world is experiencing what most families with Autistic children have experienced for years before the world changed. God gave my husband and I such beautiful gifts when he blessed us with children and in the big picture of things, God prepared us to what was to come. Over the years my husband and I have tried to speak to family about this, we have lost friends, family have turned against us because of the truths we tried to share. It hurt our hearts but we always had God by our sides. It was shocking to us how many people hated us when we home schooled our kids and I became a stay at home mom. Or when we researched what we put into our children’s bodies. We had no idea what was going on, why friends and family would have such hatred for us for doing these things that didn’t effect them, like they changed into something my husband and I no longer recognized. And now everyone is witnessing this, what we lived through so long ago when our children were little. Such hatred too. God was always by us, and now I know why we were blessed with children with Autism…my aunt calls people who try to live clean lives dirty hippies, with hate of course. She calls herself a Christian, but she turned her back on family over the science from a stranger. The world seems to have gone mad, but God is still by our sides and he has prepared so many for what we are experiencing now. Some just don’t know it yet. What happened in our family was not a negative, it was positive knowledge all from God. Thank Pure Glory, loved this post.

  10. What seemed the biggest loss turned out to be the greatest victory. This happens to us daily. We only need to live our lives according to the will of God (Romans 8: 28) and stay calm. God knew us even before we were born. He never fails His people. Blessings.
