Do you let the past dictate your present? Does the past rob you from enjoying today, for fear that the cycle will repeat? Or did the past make you fearful, for today? Is your refrain, this is how it was and will always be? Does the past clothe you in old rags, when God offers you beautiful clothing, for today? Have disappointments made you forget to smell the flowers today? Do not let the past rob you, of the delight of a new day! God is with you and will never leave you.
Forgive and forget the past, so you will have room, in your heart to embrace, what God has for you today. Let go of the refrain, “this is the way I have always done it.” Allow God’s new song and joy to burst out of you. Be the light that casts out darkness because you are the light that shines bright. Light always triumphs and causes the dark to flee.
Yahweh says:
“Stop dwelling on the past.
Don’t even remember these former things.
I am doing something brand new, something unheard of.
Even now it sprouts and grows and matures.
Don’t you perceive it?
I will make a way in the wilderness
and open up flowing streams in the desert.
Wild beasts, jackals, and owls will glorify me.
For I supply streams of water in the desert
and rivers in the wilderness
to satisfy the thirst of my people, my chosen ones,
so that you, whom I have shaped and formed for myself,
will proclaim my praise. (Isaiah 43:18-21 TPT)
