Give Thanks In Everything!

by Hazel Straub

It is hardest to rely on God, when things do not go the way that you expect. He works his eternal values in you, and makes your character more like Jesus.

The Lord is  teaching you to look solely to him as your source, not on what you can do, earn or know. Praise God for the times, when nothing happens, as you anticipated and the road seems rough and hard. God is using these things to shape you, into becoming more like Christ. Open your mouth with thankful praise to him!

And in the midst of everything be always giving thanks, for this is God’s perfect plan for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:18 TPT)

  1. Great image – if we go our own way we can so easily get stuck.

    • Yes! Doing things in our own power, ends us in a mess! Depending on Gos wisdom and strength works so much better.

  2. God is both my source and my goal—not what I can do, earn or know. Thank you, Hazel. Your post reminds me of one of my favorite quotes by CH Spurgeon:

“Make Him (God) the source, the center, the circumference of all thy soul’s range of delight. Rest no longer satisfied with thy dwarfish attainments. Aspire to a higher, a nobler, a fuller life. Upward to heaven! Nearer to God!”

  5. Yes! It is in the darkest times of our life when we cannot see the answer to our turmoil that when we praise God things turn around! We as humans are used to praising Him in the best of times, but we show Him how much we trust in His will and not our own when we bring glory to Him with praise in the worst of times. Job did such a thing when he lost everything and still praised God,and he was blessed more in the end of his life than in the beginning. God Bless you for teaching His word.

  7. That’s a challenge where I have been last week. It’s like cleaning my truck bed standing on one side, and some one was on the other side reloading trash. I think I have a way out.

    • Thankfulness in the difficult times makes all the difference! When we complain, we remain in the mess!
