Divided we fall but when we are united nothing is too difficult. A favorite tactic of the enemy is to divide and conquer. Contention and strife brings rebellion, alienation and disaster.
After the Biblical flood, God told the people to scatter across the world and to be fruitful and multiply. The people did not want to do this and instead built a city and tower in defiance and rebellion. But the Lord came down to look at the city and the tower the people were building. “Look!” he said. “The people are united, and they all speak the same language. After this, nothing they set out to do will be impossible for them! Come, let’s go down and confuse the people with different languages. Then they won’t be able to understand each other.” (Genesis 11:5-7 NLT)
With their unity, nothing would be impossible for them. Approximately 2,000 years later, 120 disciples of Jesus were united together, in obedience to his instructions, to wait in Jerusalem until they received power from on High. All of them were united in prayer, gripped with one passion, interceding night and day.(Acts 1:14b TPT) Because of their unity in prayer and focus on God the impossible happened. On the Feast of Pentecost, Holy Spirit came with fire and a sound like a rushing wind to this group. They were transformed and went outdoors where the people heard the believers speaking in their native languages. 3,000 people turned from their sins, believed in Jesus and were baptized. Afterwards the world was transformed by the unity of the believers in Jesus.
They went from fearful to world changers. Their focus was seeking God, in one accord. Being one in seeking the face of God, will change a city, a nation and the world!

It is a heart issue! This is a season that God calls for repentance and humbling ourselves before him. The love of God calls us to repent and turn to him. The believers in Jesus went from hiding for fear of being killed to boldness. Today is Pentecost and marks a new era. When even a few unite in prayer, God hears and changes hearts through Holy Spirit conviction.

When we accepted Jesus as our Savior we begin to change from the inside-out, and we start to see others the way that Christ does. We live in a fallen world, may we begin to see others the same way that Christ does. Today is Pentecost Sunday may we all stand firm on the Gospel of Jesus Christ and be bold followers of our Savior. ❤ ❤

Happy Pentecost!So glad Jesus changes us from the inside out with the help of Holy Spirit! Receiving the love of God expressed through Jesus shows us how to love others. Holy Spirit gives us boldness to show the same love to others, with the Good News of Jesus. Amen!

I never understood why he wouldn’t want humans to be unified. It’s my least favorite part of the Bible and baffles me the most.

Jesus prayed to the Father in John 17:21:
: 21 “that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”
The founding of Babylon and the Tower of Babel occurred about 100 years after the Biblical flood when there was so much evil that only 8 were saved. God did not want to see this happen again. God is love but since he loves us, he puts boundaries around us for our protection. The people were defiant and rebellious. Nimrod who founded the city hunted and killed men for sport. Satan takes advantage of rebellion and torments people and they get worse. It was the best that they disperse throughout the world. Many people are hurt, when evil rules. God is always desiring man to be in fellowship with him and he is merciful and kind. Satan is just the opposite. Hope this helps you understand a little bette.

No. It doesn’t. Because If they were all communicating then they were getting along. By making it harder for them to communicate more strife was caused.

A well-written post. Are you aware of Vladimir Solvyov’s idea that Pentecost was intended as the exact reversal of Babel–that is, outside of the Holy Spirit, the curse keeps us from understanding each other, but in the Spirit, we miraculously understand each other?
