Wandering In The Desert?

by Hazel Straub

Do you feel like you are wandering in the wilderness, with no destination in sight? When you are in the desert, distractions fall away and it is only you and the Lord. It may seem routine and boring, but the Lord is teaching you to depend upon his tender care.

Often, life gets busy and we get distracted with entertainment, work, social media, and relationships. Currently, we are in a season, where everything has quieted and disruption is the new normal. The things we depended upon have ceased, including employment, income, social activity, health, with prosperity, uncertain. Now, it is you and the Lord. He is calling to each one of us, to get to know him, in a more intimate way. He is our Daddy God, Redeemer, Provider, Savior, Sustainer, Shepherd, Comforter, Teacher, Wisdom Giver, Deliverer, and Friend. He wants you to know that he loves you and will bring you through your trials to a wonderful end. Spend time with him and pour out your heart to him, then listen to what he has to say to you.

When our circumstances squeeze us, what comes out was already inside of us. Is it peace, joy, patience, faithfulness, kindness, and love? Or is it fear, insomnia, restlessness, depression, loneliness, grouchiness, complaining, self pity, bitterness, or hopelessness? The Lord desires you to depend on him, to come to love your relationship, as you become secure in his loving kindness towards you. Know he is bringing you through this into your promises.

Your Gateway of Hope is coming! Get ready!

“But then I will win her back once again.
I will lead her into the desert
and speak tenderly to her there.
I will return her vineyards to her
and transform the Valley of Trouble into a gateway of hope.
She will give herself to me there,
as she did long ago when she was young,
when I freed her from her captivity in Egypt.” (Hosea 2:14-15 NLT)

  2. Actually feeling a little “chained” in prison right now but thanks for the analogy. Fun to imagine wandering right now.

  3. Hi Hazel.
Your post lit up greatly for me, I was just in the process of writing my unbelieving HEART when it came though like a beautiful confirmation that brought me into reality.
It is so easy for negative IMAGES to come in when our wilderness times occur.
Thank you Father and thank you Hazel for your obedience to post, I was truly blessed.

    • Ian William, thank you for letting me know that this post lit up for you. It is always in the hard times that we have the hardest time seeing that God is with us.

Praise Father God for always being there, providing for our needs, and loving on us.

Abundant blessings of new spiritual eyesight and an infusion of God’s love and provision!
      Hazel
