Battle Weary? Inquire Of God!

by Hazel Straub

Fatigued by the battle? Unsure of the strategy needed to win the battle? God calls to you and says to consult him, for the right course of action. This is the time to quit relying on your natural strength and  ask God for his wisdom, listen and follow his instructions.

King David made a habit of asking God how to fight the battle. One time it was to pursue the enemy and God would give the victory.  And David inquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? Shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all. (1 Samuel 30:8 KJV)

On another occasion, God told King David, to circle around behind the enemy and when he heard the sound of marching in the mulberry trees, he would know the Lord had gone before him to defeat his enemies. (2 Samuel 5:23-25) God always has the best plan and we need to consult and obey him for how to fight our battles.

For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.  (Isaiah 64:4 KJV)

  1. Exactly what I’ve been saying to the Lord and that I have no more of my own strength…And He said, “Good!”

  2. Amen! What came to mind to me as I was reading this was the word wisdom. Proverbs 3:13-18 “Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.”
