Jesus, The Good Shepherd, Calls You By Name

by Hazel Straub

Wondering if anyone knows your name and who you are? Jesus said he is the Good Shepherd and calls each one of his sheep by their name. We are his sheep, know his voice and recognize him. He leads us, loves us and gives his life for us. Your name and identity are so precious to him.

But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. The watchman opens the door for this man, and the sheep listen to his voice and heed it; and he calls his own sheep by name and brings (leads) them out. When he has brought his own sheep outside, he walks on before them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. (John 10:2-4 AMPC) I am (Jesus) the Good Shepherd; and I know and recognize My own, and My own know and recognize Me. (John 10:14 AMPC)

  3. When my heart stopped in water survival training and things went black, the first thing I felt was the Lord pressing shoulder to shoulder against me! I could even make him out a little having a white robe, beard and hair. Later, after I survived the ordeal, the sermon that Sunday was having the “Good Shepherd” laying down next to the lamb.
It felt as if a bucket of water poured over me in an anointing, and then I knew beyond any doubt it was Jesus the good shepherd, lying next to me!
Since I know him and hear him now in the natural, it was only logical he was with me in the (supernatural) death of my physical body, and it was immediate, since he had never left me!

    • Praise God! Thank you for sharing yiur powerful testimony of Jesus, the Good Shepherd saving your life. Blessings!

  4. With Jesus it can’t get any more personal than being called by our name.

  5. Yes he knows our names, although we may not appreciate them. When I was growing up I thought my name Lauren had the most disappointing meaning ‘of the laurel tree’, but when I was born again and studied a bit of ancient history I understood the laurel tree leaves were used to make crowns for the victors in the Olympic games. Then when I read Revelation 2:10 ‘…..Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.’ I knew my name had been given to me from the God who gives life out of death. He planned for all the people of the world to speak victory over me until finally one day I would hear His voice calling my name and believe.
What a beautiful shepherd we have! Thanks Hazel, hope you’re having a wonderful week. Lots of love L

    • Lauren, the enemy of our souls wants to steal, kill and destroy us and our identity. I never used to like my name because it was not popular and I had times where it was used negatively. Then I found that the hazel tree was resilient and did well in winter, provided delicious nuts, had king’s scepter’s made from the wood and that it means from Hebrew to English, the one who God sees. He has a special spot for each of us and calls us by name. He loves and cherishes us! Having a wonderful week. Abundant blessings, Lauren to you and your family. More love to you, Hazel

    • Yes, he does. He is also calling your name, Lloyd, right now! He is a good shepherd who knows us personally.
