Set A Guard O LORD Over My Mouth!

by Hazel Straub

Those that are wise listen, not overflowing with talk. Keeping quiet and not saying all that you know is wise. Surrender and ask for God’s help!

Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips. (Psalm 141:3 NIV)

If you keep talking, it won’t be long
before you’re saying something really wrong.
Prove you’re wise from the very start—
just bite your tongue and be strong! (Proverbs 10:19 TPT)

  7. A popular saying related to God’s wisdom is ‘talking is silver silence is golden’. Guarding one’s tongue is good advice for all of us.

  8. Amen! I recently committed this verse memory asking God to activate my mind before I activate my mouth.

  11. Amen!
Recently I was reading in Proverbs and chapter 21:23 reads… whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles. Yes, help us Lord to guard our mouth.
Thank you for your faithfulness in sharing God’s truth.
