Forgiveness involves sending away the offense, setting free from bondage and lifting the burden from the offender and forgiving ourselves. When we forgive others, we are forgiven by our Heavenly Father. If we refuse to forgive, we live in the past and relive the offense over and over again. This leads to bitterness, anger, depression, resentment, retaliation, murder, envy and jealousy. When we let the offense go, we can enjoy our today and look forward to tomorrow and our minds and emotions heal. Then we enjoy abundant victorious life and no longer live as a victim.
For if you forgive people their trespasses [their reckless and willful sins, leaving them, letting them go, and giving up resentment], your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their trespasses [their reckless and willful sins, leaving them, letting them go, and giving up resentment], neither will your Father forgive you your trespasses. (Matthew 6:14-15 AMPC)
Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. (Ephesians 4:31-32 NLT)

As a believer in Jesus, he lives inside of you. He said, “Father, forgive them, they know not what they do.” Ask the Forgiver inside of you to forgive the one that trespassed against you. Then release it like the bunch of the balloons, with his help.

Forgiveness is the greatest gift we can receive. But to receive it, we must be willing to forgive completely and unconditionally.

Yes, there are times when we find we have not forgiven, although we have gone through the motions. We have to make a decision from our heart and release the offender.

On a human level I would agree with you. It’s not healthy to hang on to hurt and resentment. It’s better to forgive and move on for your own mental health id nothing else.

A humble “Thank you” for your visit on my blog, which brought me to read this awesome article of yours. Yes, every believer should bind themselves to forgiveness no matter the circumstances because that is the will of God for us.

You are welcome! It may be hard to forgive but life goes so much better when we determine to forgive before any offense happens. Go wills forgiveness so we can experience for ourselves. Blessings!
