Loving Self

by Apostle Gabriel Cross

Yahweh loves it, when we love ourselves the way He loves us. The essence of loving ourselves is loving the Father because he created us in his image. The more we endeavor to bless, love, and encourage ourselves, the less we will curse, hate, and discourage ourselves.

Oh, my! This message is so necessary in today’s world! This world has created such a bizarre set of standards that people are trying to live up to — and which they cannot live up to because those standards are not normal and healthy in a Godly sense. Everything from the look of the models on the magazine covers to the mercedes cars and elaborate mansions some of our preachers are living in. (I’m not against prosperity for ministers at all — just against striving for gold and glamor.) But the people in today’s world — and today’s church — are trying to push themselves to “measure up” to those false standards, and when they don’t, they feel like failures and beat themselves up emotionally.

Your word today is a blessing to those people specifically, and to all the human race if they will receive it.

I love this definition of love: Love is extending yourself to nurture your own or someone elses spiritual growth. (M. Scott Peck) I thought at first it was selfish to stick yourself in there first, but I see now it is essential. If we see ourselves as Christ sees us we are more likely to respond from that identity that if we “curse, hate. and discourage ourselves.” Thanks for this.

You’re welcome. Good definition of love. When we don’t love ourselves, we can’t genuinely love our others. Christ’s love for us, changes everything in our world.
