The past can be an enormous handicap, in which case we need to ‘let go and let God’.
But the past can also help us. The Israelites were often challenged to ‘remember’ how God had dealt with them in the past. Thinking about past victories and the way God has lead us through them can be a grerat encouragement to our faith.

The Israelites who left Egypt still had the slave mentality and it cost them their lives in the wilderness. They clung to the old ways of thinking and refused to enter their Promised Land. We need to let go of all the weight that hinders us from receiving what God has for us today.
