Repentance means to change. Don’t tell someone you are sorry, you apologize or you repent, if you don’t mean it and are unwilling to change. Don’t be so proud you can’t sincerely apologize.
Sometimes, we as leaders try to justify ourselves and “save face.” We try to make ourselves look good in front of our friends, our church members, our sons, our daughters, our business acquaintances, and even with other leaders. God wants his leaders to stop pretending they are right all the time. When you are wrong, admit it. Stop trying to look good in front of others, as God is tired of this behavior. Be real, stop being fake. When the Holy Spirit tugs at your heart, even a little, hearken, heed and obey the Lord and apologize. Additionally, God wants us to stop making excuses, for not repenting. He desires that we stop evading responsibility for not studying or spending time with him or obeying his instructions. It is time to stop making fake apologies and lame excuses.
“You serve me with your lips, but your heart is far from me.” (Isaiah 29:13)
